It was easy to add there photos and videos (for example some interviews and my own videos). It's fruitful to see and hear what real people say instead of text quotations. I also linked there mind maps, that can of course be later edited if needed, and they will be automatically updated to the site.<br />

For readers it's easier to read this kind of thesis and return back to different iinteresting themes than in a long text document. The topics can be found as links like also additional material. Mobile devices can be used to read and investigate the thesis. All the materials are such that they work on different devices and platforms.</div>

Planning has started from clarifying the learning outcomes, that is based on the curriculum. I've also collected the background information, like what kind of students there will be participating and how the teaching will be implemented.<br />

The main issues, that I'm teaching in this course, are related to the mobile learning and how to utilize mobile devices for the purposes of park property management. I've divided my part at this course to three different training parts.<br />

The last part is for applying previously learned issues to the practice and clarify their ideas.<br />

I decided to take advantage of sitting long time in a car. I had a pile of books with me to go through and I used a tablet device to write down the main points and ideas to the Google docs. During the trip back and forth I was able to write a lot of text for my thesis.<br />

Usually I borrow the books from the local and university library. Sometimes it happens, that I haven't had time to go through the book and there are reservations of it. In this kind of cases I've used to quickly go through the pages, take photos of most important by using a mobile device and share them in my private Picasa album. Thus I've been able to read them later when I've time. Easy and handy!<br />

That has opened my eyes really. In Finland education has a long background even if everybody has had equal opportunities to study just during the few decades. I interviewed my mother who was born 1940, just during the war. Her mother became widow when my mother was one year old and she had a quite poor but happy childhood. She would have liked to study to become a teacher, but that wasn't financially possible. She got some financial support to be able to study at business school and worked as a secretary before she married my father and managed a farm with him.<br />

That was a great way to learn more during the evening program before sauna and swimming.<br />

My studies will continue during summer by writing my final project. My topic is related to the open, creative and collaborative model that helps people to work together towards the common goal. We practiced by teaching to a group of 6 people a chosen method or a skill by using a chosen teaching method. Afterwords everyone's part was evaluated by the group.<br />

I decided to teach others what is a QR code and how it could be used in learning and teaching. I created a <a href="https://sites.google.com/site/qrkooditoppimisessa/" target="_blank">Google site</a> for this purpose. It's a good way to collect all the information and material related to a certain study module or issue to one place. There you're able to attach all the learning tasks, instructions and share information during the period. Created site can be open to everyone or in use of a certain group only.<br />

This learning session was held via AdobeConnect environment, which worked quite well in this kind of case. Our group was active. My presence via camera was also an important issue. People felt that I was there with them more closely.</div>

Varmasti osasyy on se, että laitteita ei välttämättä osata käyttää tarkoituksenmukaisesti eikä tiedetä, mitä mahdollisuuksia oman laitteen uumenista löytyy.</span><br />

<span style="color: #20124d;">Korjataksemme tilannetta järjestämme HAMKissa tammikuussa Kännykällä kätevästi -päiviä, joissa meiltä Mobiilistilaisilta saa tulla kysymään mitä vaan mobiiliuteen ja esimerkiksi kustannuksiin ja mobiilisovelluksiin liittyen. Niiden jatkeena käynnistyvät helmikuussa sekä opiskelijoille että opettajille suunnatut mobiilityöpajat, joissa perehdytään tarkemmin erilaisiin käyttötapoihin ja mobiililaitteiden hyödyntämiseen oppimisessa. Opettajille on lisäksi tarjolla paja, jossa työstetään heidän omia opintojaksojaan.</span><br />

<span style="color: #351c75;">During Autumn 2011 <a href="http://www.mobiilisti.com/" target="_blank">Mobiilisti -project</a> run at the HAMK University of Applied Sciences a survey concerning the usage of mobile devices by students. The results show that nearly half of the students have already a smartphone. Part of the students showed enthusiasm to use their smartphones in learning and in their studies and they also had a lot of ideas how to advantage them in practice. On the contrary, some part had totally opposite attitude towards the mobile devices and technology in general.</span><br />

Likewise also the general attitude and prejudice towards mobile devices and in general all technical equipment was also a significant fact. Certainly also one reason is that people don't know how to use their mobile devices appropriately and what kind of functions and applications there is available.</span><br />

<span style="color: #351c75;">To help this situation in HAMK will be arranged during January Mobile days, where Mobiilisti -project members are available to answer to all of questions related to the mobile devices and for example to the mobile costs and mobile applications. As a continuation to the Mobile days will be arranged Mobile workshops starting from the February. These are available both for students and teachers. In Mobile workshops will be familiarized with the different mobile use cases and how to utilize mobile devices in learning and teaching. In the last workshop in April will be worked especially to develop teachers' own study modules.</span><br />

Laitteesta löytyy myös liikkeentunnistukseen perustuvia toimintoja. Kallistelemalla voi pienentää tai suurentaa näyttöä sekä siirtää sovelluksia näkymästä toiseen.</span><br />

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #351c75;">Kuvan laatu on hyvä, Videokuvaustakin olen jo testannut ja hyvältä näyttää. Laite on selkeästi suunniteltu myös vaakasuorassa käytettäväksi (Samsung-teksti) pitkällä sivulla), joten se ohjaa hyvin käyttämään laitetta oikein päin juuri videokuvauksessa.</span><br />

Here you can find my first impressions.<br />

The device display is larger than in previous one I had in use (that was 7") and this is a clear advantage. The device itself is really thin and the wight is about the same with the old one. Smaller tablet was handier from the size point of view and writing with it by two hand in use was easier. With this new one writing with two hand is more challenging when the device is used horizontally. I'm still able to put it into my handbag anyway. The outlook of the device is stylish.<br />

At first I installed into my device all needed apps to build my own learning environment:<br />

This new tablet has a bit different UI logics than the previous one. It took some time to familiarize with that. For kids it took only a really short time.<br />
<br />
When you long-press Home-button, there is still opened a list of active applications. Great new functionality is that, you can also close the apps from that list. New feature is also the motion based functionality. By tilting and panning you're able to reduce and enlarge screen or move icons to another page.<br />
<br />
I'm satisfied with the photo and video quality. The tablet has been clearly designed to be used especially horizontally (Samsung -logo on the long side). <a href="http://www.mobiilisti.com/" target="_blank">Mobiilisti-hankkeessa</a> on myös oppia tullut. mPedagogiikka on tullut tutummaksi Silanderin Pasin opastuksen (<a href="https://docs.google.com/document/d/1faJultWFzQyJMGYb4InsHagRsyQTqwePcCc0Cjoh_R8/edit?hl=fi" target="_blank">workshop1</a>, <a href="https://docs.google.com/document/d/1bH_wrtwqMoT91_PxCQ6b3_-8aU9Ai9S4pVo8wxE6OPs/edit?hl=en_US#" target="_blank">workshop2</a>) myötä ja internetissä on tullut kahlattua kaikennäköistä materiaalia.<br />

Täytyy todeta, että tästä kaikesta on kyllä hurjasti hyötyä mobiiliopetusta kehittäessä. On jotain, mistä kaivaa kättä pidempää, kun omat keinot loppuvat.<br />

First two of three study modules of my pedagogical studies has been now completed. My vocabulary concerning the pedagogy terminology has grown exponentially. As an engineer who is extremely interested in all kind of technical equipment and mobile devices, I've found correct words to be used for the partly familiar things. I'm still in the middle of reading a great book related to the eLearning and during next year the studies will include study modules for building modules for real students.<br />

In <a href="http://www.mobiilisti.com/mobiilisti---mobilearn" target="_blank">MobiLearn</a> project (<a href="http://www.mobiilisti.com/" target="_blank">Mobiilisti</a>) I have also learned a lot concerning the pedagogy. Mobile pedagogy (mPedagogy) has been familiarized in guidance of Pasi Silander and I have also actively browsed the internet.<br />

I have to admit that this all has and will be very useful when developing mobile learning. Mielestäni Suomessa ollaan jo varsin pitkällä mobiilioppimisen kehittämisessä ja kokeiluissa, kun vertaa siihen, mitä tuolta jäi haaviin. Nyt on meillä suomalaisilla jälleen kerran näytön paikka. Liekö verkon kapasiteetti ollut sitten liian alhainen? Mobiililaitteita ja kannettavia tietokoneita kun oli käytössä lähes jokaisella esitysten aikana. Taidan olla täällä kotimaassa tottunut jo liiankin hyviin palveluihin.</span></div>
